Date: 07.12.2024 Asharfabad Campus organized Green Grocers activity, which was designed to provide pre-primary learners with a hands-on learning experience about fruits, vegetables, and the concept of healthy eating. The aim was to enhance their cognitive and social skills through role-playing and real-life simulations of a grocery store. Details of the Activity: 1. Setup: A mock grocery store was set up with tables displaying a variety of real and artificial fruits and vegetables. Price tags were placed on each item to introduce students to basic numerical concepts. Props like shopping baskets, eco-friendly cloth bags, weighing machines, cash registers, and toy money were used to simulate a realistic shopping experience. 2. Execution: The learners were divided into two groups: shoppers and sellers. The sellers were dressed up as Green Grocers.They learned how to arrange items, interact with customers, and handle pretend currency. The shoppers were encouraged to choose items, inquire about their names and prices, and practice basic addition while “purchasing.” 3. Interactive Learning:Teachers guided the learners by introducing the names, colours, and benefits of different fruits and vegetables. Songs and rhymes related to food and health were incorporated to keep the activity engaging. Outcomes: Educational: The learners learned to identify and name fruits and vegetables. They also practiced counting, sorting, and making choices. Social Skills: The role-play enhanced their communication, teamwork, and confidence in interacting with peers and adults. Awareness: The activity raised awareness about the importance of including fresh fruits and vegetables in their diet. The Green Grocers activity was a successful and engaging way to combine education with fun. It provided Pre-Primary learners with foundational knowledge about healthy eating habits while fostering essential life skills.
